Essay Topics That Involve Living Through Adulthood

Essay Topics That Involve Living Through AdulthoodThe topic of adulthood is a highly volatile and controversial one. It often sparks heated discussions in classrooms and on campuses, where it is typically at the core of the course, and students learn about how to think about their own lives and how to do what is best for them in adulthood. To put it mildly, the discussion of adult life is not one that most students are very familiar with. Although adultism seems to be the driving force of America's youth-with television shows and video games revolving around youth- adult life is still the last of the off-limits subjects for many students, who have trouble articulating their feelings on how to live through adulthood. To help students understand the way their own lives and futures will unfold as they enter adulthood, writers should consider essay topics that are centered on these discussions. They may want to look at essay topics such as: How does one prepare for life after high school? How do I go about raising my children? These are very different from the thoughts of an adult in regards to their family, their job and other aspects of their life. And even though the questions may seem simple or juvenile, they are not as easy to answer as one might think. At least, not without some careful planning and discussion. However, by addressing these topics in the classroom, the writer is in essence engaging the students in dialogue with the student's feelings about adult life. The result will be far more meaningful than writing about something completely different. Since so many students are not familiar with these topics, they are usually quite hesitant to express their feelings and opinions in class. Many students do not fully understand the issues surrounding the notion of adulthood, and some feel awkward in discussing these things. If they find it uncomfortable, they will rarely take the time to share their thoughts and feelings with others. Most donot want to burden th eir professors with their thoughts, which is one reason why there is a need for teachers to prepare essays that tackle various issues. Some teachers may choose to write essay topics that are even more challenging. For example, the teacher could address essay topics that involve adult relationships-such as entering adulthood while dating, getting married, or having children. In all, students should feel comfortable sharing their ideas and feelings with the teachers in a classroom situation. If they don't feel they can discuss these subjects, then this is the time when they should enlist the help of a teacher or a counselor to help them become comfortable with these topics.
